The Agrarian Kitchen Restaurant.
Housed in a light-filled former asylum in New Norfolk, The Agrarian Kitchen Restaurant is a radical love letter to Tasmanian produce. Co-founders Rodney Dunn and Séverine Demanet, alongside chef Stephen Peak, have built a hyper-local dining experience where a one-acre walled garden dictating the menu is the main attraction, not an afterthought. The $195 set-menu lunch—available Friday through Sunday—begins with a guided walk through the garden and a snack in the greenhouse. Back in the dining room, the kitchen uses wood grilling, fermenting, and pickling to deliver restrained, ingredient-led dishes. For a more casual visit, an outdoor kiosk on the front lawn serves house-made pastries and salads, making this entire ecosystem a mandatory pilgrimage for food lovers.
