Temple of Literature.

The Temple of Literature in Hanoi, established in 1070 by Emperor Ly Thanh Tong, is a premier landmark celebrating Vietnam's dedication to education and Confucian values. Encompassing over 54,000 square meters, the temple features beautifully landscaped courtyards and significant architectural elements, including the Great Middle Gate and the Pavilion of Constellation. Originally Vietnam's first national university, or Imperial Academy, it attracted scholars for centuries to study literature and governance is home to the Doctor’s Stelae Courtyard, which honors successful scholars through 82 stone steles supported by turtles. The serene grounds, including Van Chuong Lake, invite reflection, while educational programs enhance visitors' understanding of Vietnam’s rich scholarly traditions.
