Chihuly Garden and Glass.
Located at Seattle Center right beneath the Space Needle, Chihuly Garden and Glass is a spectacular showcase of Tacoma-born artist Dale Chihuly’s lifetime of pushing the boundaries of blown glass. Opened in 2012, the exhibition is brilliant in how it integrates indoor galleries, a massive conservatory, and a lush outdoor garden. Inside, visitors walk through dimly lit rooms that make the saturated colors of the organic, fluid glass sculptures seem to glow from within. The centerpiece is the 40-foot-tall Glasshouse, where a massive, 100-foot-long sculpture in fiery reds and oranges hangs suspended overhead. Outside, whimsical glass installations are seamlessly woven into the natural landscaping, creating a vibrant, living canvas that shifts with the Pacific Northwest weather.
