Temple Square.

Spanning 35 acres in the heart of Salt Lake City, Temple Square serves as the global headquarters for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The complex is defined by the granite spires of the Salt Lake Temple, a massive pioneer-era undertaking that took 40 years to complete and is currently the focus of an extensive seismic renovation. Beyond the main temple, the grounds house the world-renowned Tabernacle, famous for its dome-shaped roof and remarkable acoustics, where visitors can often watch the Tabernacle Choir rehearse. The experience is intentionally interactive; guests can trace their genealogy at the FamilySearch Center or explore the rooftop gardens of the 21,000-seat Conference Center. While deeply religious in origin, the square functions as a massive public park and museum hub, particularly striking during the winter when hundreds of thousands of lights transform the landscape. Free tours are available in dozens of languages, though the immaculately landscaped gardens are easy enough to navigate on your own.
