The Ohr-O'Keefe Museum of Art.
Designed by architect Frank Gehry, this striking modern campus on the Mississippi Sound is dedicated to the legacy of George E. Ohr, the self-proclaimed "Mad Potter of Biloxi." Gehry’s sculptural, metallic pavilions rise beneath ancient live oaks, creating an intentional dialogue between the avant-garde architecture and Ohr’s extraordinarily twisted, thin-walled late 19th-century ceramics. The museum is a champion of clay and craft, featuring an expansive clay studio where visitors can get their hands dirty alongside rotating exhibitions of contemporary art. It also delves into local history; the on-site Pleasant Reed Interpretive Center, a replica of a 19th-century home, explores the post-Civil War African American experience in Biloxi.
