Pilgrim Monument.

Towering 252 feet over Provincetown, this granite monument commemorates the Mayflower Pilgrims’ first landing in 1620. Modeled after the Torre del Mangia in Siena, Italy, it stands as the tallest all-granite structure in the United States. Reaching the site starts with a scenic inclined elevator ride from downtown, followed by a climb up 116 steps and 60 ramps to secure panoramic views that can stretch all the way to Boston. At the base, the museum expands the narrative well beyond the Pilgrims. Interactive exhibits explore the town's maritime heritage, its pivotal role in early American theater, and its vibrant LGBTQ+ history. Notably, the permanent exhibition "Our Story" reframes the 1620 landing by highlighting the perspective of the indigenous Wampanoag nation.
