Faidley’s Seafood.
A cornerstone of Baltimore’s culinary identity since 1886, Faidley’s Seafood is located inside the historic Lexington Market. This is a no-frills, high-stakes seafood counter where the standing-room-only tables are packed with locals and travelers alike. While the menu covers the Chesapeake basics—including raw oysters, Maryland crab soup, and traditional coddies—the main draw is the jumbo lump crab cake. Hand-picked on-site and made with minimal filler, these soft-ball-sized cakes are still prepared according to the family recipe perfected by Nancy Faidley Devine in the 1980s. It is an unpretentious, four-generation operation that prioritizes freshness over seating. Expect a bustling atmosphere that feels less like a formal restaurant and more like a living piece of city history.
