The House Of William & Merry.
Housed in a restored 19th-century farmhouse that once served as a hair salon, this Hockessin destination balances refined, upscale dining with the warmth of a family-run tavern. Chef-owners William Hoffman and Merry Catanuto steer a seasonal New American kitchen that highlights the bounty of the Mid-Atlantic, pulling from their own backyard herb gardens alongside Delaware and Chesapeake producers. The menu swings easily from polished, technically precise seafood—like pan-roasted turbot in kimchi broth or bronzed scallops with wild ramps—to an elevated Hereford beef burger. Guests can dine on the wraparound porch, in the cozy, home-like dining rooms, or at the bar. It is a highly personal, unpretentious neighborhood spot that feels deeply rooted in its local landscape.
