Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
Founded by Alice Walton, Crystal Bridges is a sprawling cultural campus where Moshe Safdie’s architecture serves as a bridge—literally and figuratively—between fine art and the Ozark landscape. The museum’s pavilions are suspended across spring-fed ponds, using copper-clad roofs and cedar banding to blend into the surrounding 120-acre forest. Inside, the permanent collection traces five centuries of American art, from colonial-era portraits to mid-century pop art and contemporary installations. Beyond the main galleries, the grounds feature miles of sculpture-lined trails and the Bachman–Wilson House, a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian residence painstakingly relocated from New Jersey. General admission is free, making this high-design destination surprisingly accessible for a deep dive into the American aesthetic.
