The Oak Room.
Tucked inside the Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort, The Oak Room functions as a windowless sanctuary of turn-of-the-century glamour. The interior—a "velvet envelope" of dark oak paneling, black marble, and deep leather booths—intentionally blocks out the casino floor's hum to create a hushed, intimate atmosphere. Chefs Ken Bredeson and Aaron Lyons oversee a menu that bridges high-end technique with Southern roots, resulting in unexpected pairings like elk osso buco or Arctic char with subtle Asian and French influences. The centerpiece of the space is a glass-encased wine cellar that borders the private dining area, housing a collection that mirrors the kitchen's ambition. It is a place for slow pacing, professional service, and a maple old-fashioned that justifies the detour from the track.
