Ajman Museum.
Housed in an 18th-century fortress that served as the ruling family’s residence until 1970, Ajman Museum is as much about its historic setting as the treasures inside. The traditional clay-and-coral fort retains its defensive character, offering a stark contrast to the modern city surrounding it. Inside, the galleries trace Ajman’s transition from a coastal pearl-diving hub to a modern emirate. Exhibits range from traditional folk costumes, weapons, and wooden dhow models to a dedicated section on the regional pearl trade. The museum’s archaeological crown jewel is a collection of pottery and funeral jewelry recovered from the nearby Al Muwaihat cemetery, dating back to 3000 BC. It is a compact, highly informative window into local heritage, located just steps from the traditional souqs.
