THE BARAI.
The Barai is less a conventional beach hotel and more a secluded architectural sanctuary dedicated to wellness. Designed by Thai architect Lek Bunnag, the property draws heavy inspiration from ancient Khmer water temples, using geometric courtyards, dramatic light play, and sand-colored walls to create a temple-like atmosphere. While it sits on the grounds of the Hyatt Regency, it functions as a self-contained world centered on eight massive residential spa suites. These rooms are built for long-stay restoration, featuring private treatment areas and oversized soaking tubs. Beyond the spa's 18 treatment rooms, the experience centers on the historic McFarland House, a 19th-century pavilion serving as the resort’s breezy, beachfront grill. It is a rare, quiet retreat where the focus remains firmly on the balance of body and mind rather than typical seaside bustle.
