InterContinental Khao Yai Resort.
Designed by Bill Bensley, this lakeside resort is a cinematic tribute to the golden age of Thai rail travel. Set on 19 hectares of lush terrain bordering Khao Yai National Park, the property is defined by its collection of upcycled train carriages, salvaged from across the country and meticulously reimagined as luxury suites and spa treatment rooms. Even the standard guest rooms in the main buildings mimic the narrow, nostalgic layout of classic sleepers, complete with polished wood paneling and trunk-inspired decor. Outside the heritage-themed interiors, the grounds feature five lakes and over 30,000 trees, offering a dense, tropical backdrop for the outdoor pool and French-leaning restaurants. It is an immersive, high-concept escape that feels less like a standard hotel and more like a curated journey through a bygone era.
