Uppsala Cathedral.

Dominating the city skyline at nearly 119 meters tall, Uppsala Cathedral is the largest church in the Nordic region. Consecrated in 1435 after more than 150 years of construction, this striking French Gothic giant served as the coronation site for Swedish monarchs for centuries. Inside, it functions as a national pantheon; visitors will find the tombs of king and state founder Gustav Vasa, botanist Carl Linnaeus, and Sweden’s patron saint, Saint Erik. Beyond its towering nave, highlights include Sweden’s largest stained-glass window and a Treasury museum in the north tower housing an exceptional collection of medieval textiles. Still the active seat of the Archbishop of Sweden, the cathedral seamlessly blends living worship with centuries of royal and scientific history.
