Goyambokka Beach.
Tucked into a small, horseshoe-shaped bay near Tangalle, Goyambokka Beach is one of the southern coast’s most picturesque escapes, defined by its golden sand, leaning coconut palms, and dramatic black granite boulders. The headland protects parts of the shore to create pockets of calm, turquoise water ideal for swimming, while the open side of the bay draws body surfers when the swells pick up. It strikes a rare balance: it feels wonderfully undeveloped and quiet, yet it is home to a few laid-back beach shacks serving fresh seafood, cold drinks, and wood-fired pizza. Keep an eye out for sea turtles swimming near the shoreline, and stick around until dusk, when the palm-fringed silhouette of the bay makes for one of the most striking sunset views in the region.
