Cirque de Gavarnie.

The Cirque de Gavarnie is a colossal limestone amphitheater carved by glacial erosion, located in the French Pyrenees near the Spanish border. Victor Hugo famously dubbed it "nature's Colosseum," a fitting title for a basin that measures three kilometers across at its rim and drops 1,500 meters to the valley floor. The primary draw is the Gavarnie Falls, one of Europe’s highest vertical drops, which tumbles 422 meters down the grey and pink-streaked rock face. This UNESCO World Heritage site is accessible via an easy hiking path from the village of Gavarnie, though the more adventurous can trek toward the Brèche de Roland, a high-altitude natural gap in the ridge. Whether reached on foot or by mule, the scale of the walls makes it one of the continent's most dramatic geological landmarks.
