Torre Tavira.
Standing at the highest point of the old town, Torre Tavira was designated the official watchtower of the Cádiz port in 1778. It remains a testament to the city's 18th-century trade monopoly with the Americas, named after its first watchman, Antonio Tavira. While the rooftop terrace offers 360-degree views stretching across the bay to the African coast, the primary draw is the tower’s Camera Obscura. This optical device projects a live, moving image of the city onto a concave screen in a darkened room, providing a voyeuristic, real-time glimpse of local life. Between the climb and the show, two exhibition halls detail the tower's history and the city's urban evolution. It is a necessary stop for understanding the geographic layout of one of Europe's oldest continuously inhabited cities.
