Hanbat Arboretum.

Spanning 387,000 square meters in Daejeon’s civic core, Hanbat Arboretum is Korea’s largest man-made urban arboretum. Rather than a remote botanical escape, this free public sanctuary sits directly between the Government Complex and Science Park, linked to the Gap River trail system. The space is split into two distinct experiences: the West Garden focuses on local forest biodiversity, while the East Garden features 19 themed zones, including a rock garden and medicinal herb displays. Together, they house nearly 1,800 plant species. It is a highly functional green space where serious ecological research meets casual city life, making it a favorite for photography, cycling, and quiet walks. For travelers, it offers a spacious, unpretentious look at regional landscape design.
