Gamzigrad-Romuliana, the Palace of Galerius, is a significant Late Roman complex in eastern Serbia, commissioned by Emperor Caius Valerius Galerius Maximianus in the late 3rd to early 4th centuries. This site, originally named Felix Romuliana after Galerius's mother, showcases remarkable architectural feats, including extensive fortifications, a grand palace, basilicas, temples, and hot baths, seamlessly blending ceremonial and memorial purposes. The striking tetrapylon serves as a symbolic connection between the earthly and divine, emphasizing its historical significance. Its preservation and authenticity are notable, with minimal excavation and no major reconstruction since its discovery. The site is also home to exquisite mosaics and artefacts, making it a UNESCO World Heritage Site that reflects the cultural richness of the late Roman period.
