King Abdulaziz Center for World Culture.

Rising from the Dhahran desert on the exact site where oil was first discovered in Saudi Arabia, Ithra—meaning "enrichment"—is a bold architectural statement by Snøhetta. The complex resembles a cluster of futuristic, weathered stones wrapped in 350 kilometers of stainless-steel tubes. Inside, the 100,000-square-meter space functions as a massive cultural engine rather than a traditional museum. It houses a four-story library, a cinema, and a world-class theater, alongside galleries that blend Saudi heritage with international contemporary art. The Great Hall regularly hosts global touring exhibitions, while the "Being Saudi" gallery offers a sophisticated, non-linear deep dive into regional identity. It is a rare public hub where high-concept design meets genuine community utility.
