Santa Barbara County Courthouse.
The Santa Barbara County Courthouse is an iconic example of Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, designed by William Mooser between 1926 and 1929. Recognized as a National Historic Landmark, it features picturesque red tile roofs, stucco walls, and ornate balconies reminiscent of a Spanish castle. A highlight is the Mural Room, adorned with stunning murals by Dan Sayer Groesbeck that depict key moments in the region's history, while the ceilings are painted by Italian artist Giovanni Smeraldi. The four-story clock tower, equipped with a fully operational clock, offers an observation deck with breathtaking views. With its serene sunken gardens, historical significance, and commitment to sustainability through a geothermal field, the courthouse stands as a cultural beacon for the community.
