St Mary's Lutheran Cathedral.

Dominating Sibiu’s skyline with its 73-meter tower, this 14th-century Gothic landmark is a physical record of the city’s Saxon history. The tower’s four corner turrets once served as a grim warning of the town's medieval right to order executions, but today they mark the highest vantage point over the old town, reachable via a steep climb up stone and wooden stairs. Inside, the cathedral houses a vast gallery of 67 tombstones, including that of Vlad the Impaler’s son, Vlad the Ripper, who was murdered nearby. The stark interior is anchored by a 1438 bronze baptismal font and the largest organ in southeastern Europe, which still fills the vaulted space with music during summer evening concerts. It remains an active hub where civic history and community life converge.
