Mesa de Lemos.
Mesa de Lemos is an exercise in regional immersion, set within the granite slopes of the Quinta de Lemos estate in the Dão wine region. The building, designed by architect Carvalho Araújo, is carved into the hillside with floor-to-ceiling glass walls that pull the surrounding vineyards directly into the dining room. Chef Diogo Rocha leads a kitchen defined by a strict "product-first" philosophy, building tasting menus around seasonal Portuguese ingredients like Viseu hazelnuts, Bravo de Esmolfe apples, and Atlantic seafood. While the techniques are contemporary, the flavors remain rooted in local tradition, frequently highlighting the estate’s own olive oil and wine labels. It is a highly textured experience where the architecture, the soil, and the plate feel like a single project.
