National Museum of the Philippines - Davao.
Housed in a striking, six-story building shaped like a durian—Davao’s iconic fruit—the National Museum of the Philippines - Davao is a architectural landmark located inside the central People’s Park Compound. Opened in late 2024, this joint national and local hub offers a dual perspective on the region. The first four floors, managed by the National Museum, showcase Mindanao’s natural history, archaeological treasures, and contemporary art by local creators, with a strong focus on the rich textile traditions of the island's Indigenous peoples. The fifth floor houses the Museo Dabawenyo, dedicated to the city's specific civic heritage. It is a highly visual, comprehensive introduction to the ecology, identity, and living traditions of the region.
