St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral Shrine.
Standing at the heart of Tagbilaran’s civic life, St. Joseph the Worker Cathedral Shrine is the seat of the local diocese and a central anchor of Bohol’s Catholic heritage. While its roots trace back to a 1595 Jesuit mission, the current Neo-Romanesque structure is the result of centuries of rebuilding, marked by streamlined windows and a statue of St. Joseph guarding the entrance. Inside, the devotion feels deeply layered, featuring a historic altar adorned with an image of Our Lady of Lourdes gifted by Spanish royalty. Beyond the colonial-era architecture, the cathedral’s most surprising feature is at its rear: a three-story rectory perched on a cliffside that offers sweeping, unexpected views over Tagbilaran Bay and the distant shores of Dauis.
