Reserva Nacional Pacaya Samiria.

Known as the "Mirrored Forest," Pacaya Samiria is a massive flooded wilderness where the dark, tannin-rich waters create near-perfect reflections of the jungle canopy. Spanning over five million acres of the Peruvian Amazon, this Ramsar-recognized wetland is best navigated by boat through a labyrinth of blackwater lagoons and canals. The reserve is a stronghold for rare aquatic life, most notably the pink and gray river dolphins that surface alongside traveler skiffs. On land and in the boughs of giant wimba trees, the biodiversity is staggering: visitors can spot giant otters, manatees, and over a dozen primate species. While the wildlife is the primary draw, the landscape itself is the star, particularly at dawn when mist clings to the water and at dusk when the sky turns neon.
