Fatih Al-Khair.
Fatih Al-Khair offers a tangible link to Oman’s seafaring past, centered on a beautifully restored, 150-year-old traditional wooden dhow. Rather than sitting behind glass in a sterile gallery, this impressive vessel is displayed in the open air at the Al Qanjah Boat Yard in Sur—a coastal town famous for its centuries-old shipbuilding heritage. Visitors can examine the hand-built wooden hull, rigging, and intricate craftsmanship that allowed Omani sailors to dominate regional trade routes. Because the ship is visible from the street, it is an easy, highly visual addition to any Sur itinerary. It serves as a tribute to a living craft, surrounded by a working yard where traditional vessels like sambuks and ghanjahs are still built and maintained today.
