Housed in a listed building from 1844, Bakeriet på Å functions as a living piece of history within the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum. Located at the edge of the Lofoten Islands, this demonstration bakery centers around a massive stone oven dating back to 1878. During the summer months, the air in the village is thick with the scent of woodsmoke and yeast as bakers use traditional methods to produce the shop's famous cinnamon rolls and sourdough loaves. The interior is rustic and unapologetically old-fashioned, reflecting its 19th-century roots with slate roofing and late Empire-style architecture. It is a rare spot where the production process is as much of a draw as the food itself, offering a sensory link to the coastal life of nearly 150 years ago.
