Ålesund Church (Ålesund Kirke).
Ålesund Church, or Ålesund Kirke, is a striking architectural gem that showcases the Art Nouveau style, a rarity among Norwegian churches. Designed by architect Sverre Knudsen after the Great Town Fire of 1904, its construction from 1906 to 1909 features a distinctive marble façade, making it one of the few churches in Norway to utilize such materials extensively. Inside, the church merges Art Nouveau, Neo-Baroque, and Neo-Romanesque elements, highlighted by three naves, a magnificent Italian marble font, stunning frescoes, and numerous stained-glass windows. The church's organizational layout is unique, featuring a south-side tower and an east-end entrance. It is not only a religious sanctuary but also a cultural landmark reflecting Ålesund's resilience and artistic heritage.
