Stoneridge Estate.
Set on the shores of Lake Hayes, Stoneridge Estate is the result of a forty-year project to transform a former sheep paddock into a boutique vineyard and lodge. The architecture leans into a "contemporary classic" aesthetic, utilizing reclaimed timber, hand-forged iron, and native Otago schist to create a property that feels more like a historic European manor than a standard hotel. With only ten rooms spread across suites and private cottages, the atmosphere is quiet and intentional. The 12-acre grounds include formal gardens, a lap pool, and a cellar door serving Pinot Noir produced on-site. While the "Trust the Chef" dining and outdoor hot tubs are highlights, the real draw is the panoramic vantage point over the lake toward the Remarkables, best enjoyed from the arched stone balconies.
