Miro.
Miro occupies one of the few heritage Art Deco buildings to survive the 2011 earthquake, offering a sense of history that is rare in the rebuilt city center. The space feels both grand and cozy, featuring a see-through elevator, lush interiors, and a dual-sided fireplace that anchors the room during winter. Positioned along the Avon River, the restaurant transitions from a bright, brunch-focused spot into a moody evening venue. Chef Liam Summers leads a kitchen focused on creative, sustainable plates, ranging from smoked brisket pies to confit duck pappardelle. While the ground floor buzzes with casual diners, the opulent top floor provides a more secluded setting for private events. It’s a reliable hybrid of a classic bistro and a modern cocktail bar, defined by its architectural character and riverside views.
