Potgietersingel.
Laid out on Zwolle’s former 17th-century fortifications, Park Potgietersingel is a compact, 1.2-hectare green lung wrapping around the southern edge of the historic center. Designed in the early 19th century and named after the Zwolle-born poet Everhardus Johannes Potgieter, the park offers two distinct atmospheres in a small footprint: a densely planted western side and an open, grassy eastern side popular for sunbathing and picnics. A mid-2000s renovation enhanced its romantic, winding paths, which now lead past a central fountain, mature trees, and a striking lineup of 19th-century architecture along its borders. A stroll here seamlessly connects the city's military past with major landmarks like the neo-classical Museum de Fundatie and the historic Villa Suikerberg.
