De Peperbus of Onze Lieve Vrouwetoren met Onze Lieve Vrouwebasiliek.
Instantly recognizable by its distinctive pepper-pot silhouette, "De Peperbus" (the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwetoren) has defined Zwolle’s skyline since the 15th century. This 75-meter late-Gothic tower is conjoined with a beautiful 14th-century basilica, which serves as a monument to the city's Hanseatic past. The main draw for visitors is the dizzying climb up the tower's narrow spiral staircase; ascending the 236 steps to the 51-meter-high viewing platform rewards you with panoramic views over the historic center. Back on the ground, the tower boasts one of the largest carillons in the Netherlands, featuring 51 bells that regularly fill the surrounding streets with music. It is a sensory cornerstone of Zwolle, blending striking medieval architecture with a lively musical tradition.
