[[Ostrog Monastery]].

Carved directly into a near-vertical cliff face high above the Bjelopavlići plain, Ostrog Monastery is Montenegro’s most dramatic and significant pilgrimage site. Founded in the 17th century by Saint Basil, whose relics still rest in one of the two cave churches, the striking whitewashed upper monastery appears to defy gravity by clinging to the sheer rock of Ostroška Greda. While it remains an active Serbian Orthodox monastery, its reputation for miracles and healing attracts visitors of all faiths, including Catholics and Muslims. Reached via a steep, winding mountain road, the complex is split between a quieter lower monastery and the famous upper section. It is a place of quiet contemplation and remarkable architecture rather than a typical tourist attraction.
