Monument ''Freedom''.

Standing on a hillside high above the waterfront, the Monument "Freedom" is a striking Yugoslav-era *spomenik* that offers a sharp contrast to Ulcinj’s medieval old town. Completed in 1985 by sculptor Miodrag Živković and architect Đorđe Zloković, this modernist concrete memorial is dedicated to the local fighters and civilians who died during World War II. Its abstract, 12-meter-high design features four sweeping, wing-like elements that evoke aircraft wings, symbolizing flight and sacrifice. Though the structure now sits in a state of neglect, its raw, brutalist aesthetic and commanding position overlooking the Adriatic Sea make it a compelling stop for those interested in Balkan history, architecture, and the poignant, overlooked relics of the socialist era.
