Belmond Maroma.
Set across 200 acres of beachfront jungle, Maroma avoids the typical sprawl of Riviera Maya resorts in favor of a secluded, low-slung hacienda aesthetic. A 2023 renovation by designer Tara Bernerd revitalized the property’s white stucco buildings and palapa roofs using 700,000 hand-painted tiles and artisanal crafts sourced from across Mexico. The 72 rooms feel like private residences, many opening directly onto the powdery white sands of Maroma Beach. Dining ranges from open-fire Australian cooking at Woodend to sustainable Mexican fare at Casa Mayor, while the Guerlain Spa integrates local Mayan rituals, including sound therapy featuring the hotel's own colony of stingless bees. It is a rare, quiet sanctuary where the lush tropical canopy meets a remarkably pristine coastline.
