Rodonda of the Jaliscienses Ilustres.
Set within the heart of Guadalajara’s historic center, the Rotonda de los Jaliscienses Ilustres serves as both a solemn pantheon and a breezy urban park. The landmark is defined by a striking Neoclassical ring of 17 fluted stone columns, which encircles a central space dedicated to the state’s most influential figures. Below the structure lie the remains of Jalisco’s prominent artists, scientists, and revolutionaries, while the surrounding lawn is dotted with bronze statues of icons like muralist José Clemente Orozco. It’s a rare type of memorial—one that functions more as a living community hub than a fenced-off monument. Locals frequently gather on the grass under the shade of massive trees, offering a tranquil, contemplative break just steps from the Cathedral’s bustle.
