Gliding over the rugged slopes of the Sierra de Santa Catarina, this Cablebús Line 2 station serves as a high-altitude gateway to the resilient community of San Miguel Teotongo. Originally settled by Chocholtec people from Oaxaca, the neighborhood is distinct for its preservation of indigenous heritage and deep archaeological roots, which are showcased in a stellar local museum near the terminal. Beyond the impressive views of the extinct volcanoes that ring the valley, the area features the Utopia Teotongo complex, home to a decommissioned Boeing 737 repurposed as a library. Sundays are particularly lively when the surrounding streets transform into a sprawling tianguis market. It is a rare point of entry for visitors to experience a self-organized, culturally rich side of Iztapalapa that remained physically isolated until the cable car’s arrival.
