Sultanate Palace.

Set at the foot of St. Paul’s Hill, this striking wooden structure is a painstaking, full-scale reconstruction of the 15th-century palace of Sultan Mansur Shah. Built in 1986 using traditional Malay construction techniques, the entire building is assembled from hardwood and topped with a belian wood roof, remarkably held together by wooden pegs instead of metal nails. Inside, the three-story museum bypasses sterile glass cases in favor of immersive court scenes. Across eight chambers, visitors can wander through a recreated throne room, royal bedchambers, and galleries displaying over 1,350 artifacts, including weaponry, brassware, and traditional regalia. Dioramas bring legends like Hang Tuah to life, while the surrounding landscaped gardens offer a quiet space to digest Malacca's golden age.
