Honopu Beach.

Honopu Beach is one of Kauai’s most dramatic and fiercely protected coastal secrets, isolated at the base of the sheer 1,200-foot cliffs of the Nā Pali Coast. Split into two sandy coves by a massive, 90-foot natural stone arch, the beach is named for the conch-like sound the wind makes as it whistles through the rock. Reaching this sacred valley is a legendary challenge: with no roads or hiking trails, the only legal way to touch the golden sand is by swimming in from the ocean, typically from neighboring Kalalau Beach during calmer summer conditions. This extreme isolation has preserved Honopu as a pristine, undeveloped sanctuary, free of kayaks and boats, where freshwater waterfalls cascade directly onto the shore against a backdrop of ancient Hawaiian history.
