Sensoji Temple.

Sensoji Temple, Tokyo's oldest temple, holds a prominent place in Japan's spiritual and cultural landscape. Established in 645 AD to honor Kannon, the Bodhisattva of compassion, it attracts around 30 million visitors annually. The temple's history traces back to 628 AD when two brothers found a statue of Kannon in the Sumida River. Located in Asakusa, Sensoji features striking architecture including the famous Kaminarimon (Thunder Gate) with its large lantern, a five-story pagoda, and the main hall. The approach, Nakamise-dōri, is lined with traditional shops offering local treats. Sensoji also hosts vibrant festivals and allows visitors to engage in spiritual practices, blending Shinto and Buddhist influences seamlessly.
