Hyakuna Garan.
Hyakuna Garan is a study in Okinawan Zen, built into a rugged cliffside on the southern tip of the main island. Eschewing the high-energy amenities of typical beach resorts, this adults-only sanctuary focuses on silence and the scenery of the Pacific. The architecture is a seamless blend of Ryukyu and Japanese styles, featuring red coral tiles, local limestone, and a central courtyard anchored by massive banyan trees. Each of the 17 rooms faces the ocean, offering 220-degree views that stretch toward the sacred Kudaka Island. The highlight is the rooftop, which houses six private open-air villas available for guest reservation. These "hermitages" offer a secluded space to soak in natural hot water while listening to the waves crash against the reef below. It is a place designed for deep reflection rather than activity, situated a world away from the bustle of Naha.
