Yoruya.

Housed in a 110-year-old former kimono merchant’s residence within the willow-lined canals of the Bikan Historical Quarter, Yoruya seamlessly twists Kurashiki’s merchant heritage with contemporary design. The 13-room boutique culinary hotel pairs restored Machiya architecture—complete with exposed wooden beams and tatami flooring—with modern additions and quiet private gardens. The focus here is heavily on regional craft and gastronomy. At the heart of the inn is an intimate restaurant where guests gather around a U-shaped counter to watch chefs prepare multi-course kaiseki meals using Seto Inland Sea seafood and Okayama produce, paired with local sake and international wines at the on-site bar. It is a highly atmospheric, deeply localized retreat.
