Meoto Iwa.
Meoto Iwa, or the Wedded Rocks, is a significant Shinto site in Ise, Mie Prefecture, Japan, where two sacred sea stacks symbolize the union of the creation gods, Izanagi and Izanami. Connected by a heavy shimenawa rope, these rocks embody key Shinto beliefs about duality and existence. Standing at nine and three meters high, they offer breathtaking views, especially during sunrises and high tides, when their beauty is accentuated against the ocean's backdrop. Nearby, the Futami Okitama Shrine features numerous frog sculptures, symbolizing fertility and the idea of returning, reflecting local culture. With ceremonies held thrice yearly to maintain the shimenawa and guided tours available, Meoto Iwa offers a rich blend of natural beauty, spiritual depth, and cultural heritage for all visitors.
