Myoken Ishiharaso.

Positioned directly on the banks of the Amorigawa River, Myoken Ishiharaso is a ryokan defined by its proximity to the water. Designed by Takashi Sugimoto, the inn eschews standard resort layouts for a series of layered, distinct spaces that emphasize the surrounding landscape. The heart of the experience is the hot spring water; five baths are situated remarkably close to the source, including riverside open-air pools where the sound of the moving current is constant. Guest rooms vary from traditional tatami mats to contemporary Japanese suites, many featuring private outdoor baths. Dining takes place in Ishigura, a converted stone warehouse that provides a textured, atmospheric setting for seasonal kaiseki meals. It is a quiet, architectural retreat focused entirely on the ritual of bathing and the pace of the river.
