Floyd's Pelican Bar.
Floating nearly a mile out at sea on a Caribbean sandbar, Floyd’s Pelican Bar is a rustic driftwood shack that redefines the concept of a "local watering hole." Originally built by fisherman Floyd Forbes in 2001 as a private escape for his peers, it is now an essential Jamaican pilgrimage accessible only by a twenty-minute boat ride from Parottee Bay. The aesthetic is intentionally bare-bones: a thatch roof, solar panels, and walls layered with years of carved names and donated license plates. Visitors spend the afternoon drinking Red Stripe, playing dominoes, and eating fresh lobster while standing waist-deep in the turquoise water. There are no restrooms or formal menus here; it is a straightforward, sun-drenched outpost where the only agenda is watching the horizon.
