Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia.

Housed in a rationalist building designed by Marcello Piacentini, this museum is the definitive repository for the history of "Greater Greece" in southern Italy. While the collections span from prehistory to the Roman era, the undisputed stars are the Riace Bronzes. These two fifth-century BCE statues, discovered by a diver in 1972, are among the few surviving full-size ancient Greek bronzes in the world and are displayed in a climate-controlled room to preserve their remarkable detail. Beyond the statuary, the galleries feature an extensive array of votive terracotta, ancient coinage, and jewelry organized by colony. Large windows offer glimpses of the Strait of Messina, connecting the archaeological treasures inside to the Mediterranean landscape that shaped their history.
