Mount Carmel National Park.

Israel’s largest national park is a vast Mediterranean forest reserve draped over the Carmel mountain range just outside Haifa. Spanning over 10,000 hectares of pine, eucalyptus, and cypress, the park is a rugged landscape of gorges, limestone caves, and ridges offering sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea and the Jezreel Valley. What sets it apart is the dense layer of history woven into the terrain, which contains over 250 archaeological sites—including prehistoric cave dwellings—and locations sacred to Druze, Jewish, Christian, and Muslim traditions. Well-marked trails connect coastal vistas to deep woodlands blooming with hundreds of wildflower species in spring. Exceptionally easy to access by public transport, it is a premier destination for car-free day hikes.
