Nature Park.

Spanning 81 acres along the Tapi River, Sarthana Nature Park is Surat’s primary zoological park and a key green lung for the city. Established in 1984 as the first zoo in South Gujarat, the park was designed around an existing forest of eucalyptus, casuarina, and mango trees to create a more natural habitat than typical urban exhibits. Beyond serving as a leafy escape for families, the municipal-run park functions as an active conservation and breeding center, particularly successful with Royal Bengal tigers, lions, and Himalayan bears. Visitors can wander past a dedicated reptile house, a butterfly park, and a central pond, making it a straightforward, low-key spot for a half-day stroll. It is closed on Mondays and offers a relaxed look at regional wildlife preservation.
