Harpa.
Perched on Reykjavík’s waterfront, Harpa is as much a civic landmark as it is a cultural hub. Designed by Henning Larsen Architects in collaboration with artist Ólafur Elíasson, the building is wrapped in a striking, 714-panel glass honeycomb façade inspired by Iceland’s volcanic basalt columns. By day, the exterior catches the shifting light of the harbor and Faxaflói Bay; by night, it glows with programmed LED displays. Inside, the world-class acoustics of the main Eldborg hall host the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, but you don't need a concert ticket to explore. Visitors can wander the airy public atriums, browse local design at the boutique shops, dine with views of the harbor at the in-house restaurants, or simply take in the panoramas of the surrounding mountains.
